Holding Page

Welcome to my blog!
I've decided to set this up to share a little bit about the walks that we do, what books I read and basically our life in general. I intend to keep adding different links and information along the way, so please come back from time to time and see what there is, and feel free to comment on anything.

Another windy walk!

I was up early this morning, thanks to Oscar being quite a fidget from about 7am. Not so good because it's Easter Sunday and none of us have to work so we were all looking forward to a lie-in (and DD had been out last night, rolling in at about 3.30am), but very good because it meant I could get food prepared to go in the oven for tea tonight (chicken in one pot, and layered cheesy potatoes in another dish).

DH appeared shortly after for coffee, breakfast, and then off we went, heading for Ambleside, leaving the dogs behind today knowing it would be busy (a nightmare for Oscar) and steep (too much for Molly now).

As predicted, Ambleside was extremely busy, so much so that the car park we usually use was already full. Thankfully there was another one just across the road which was half empty so we parked up, and headed on up the hill.

We had a fantastic walk (see my walks page for more details and photo's) and I hope we'll be able to do it again this year and maybe carry on a lot further. What stopped us staying out longer today was the wind - 30-40 mile an hour gusts as we were heading up the hill!! Not exactly good weather for walking on the tops! It was lovely just being the two of us too - normally we each have a dog and never get to walk side by side, so it was nice (albeit strange) with no dogs and actually being able to hold hands at times!

By the time we got home the chicken was nearly done and the potatoes were looking good. DH put together a lovely salad to go with it, and I made some coleslaw. DD even commented on how good tea was!

Time for a nice sit down tonight and rest our aching legs and feet ……….

It's going to be a few weeks before we can get out walking again with lots of other stuff going on at home. So chance to have a think about where we'll end up next….
