Welcome to my blog!
I've decided to set this up to share a little bit about the walks that we do, what books I read and basically our life in general. I intend to keep adding different links and information along the way, so please come back from time to time and see what there is, and feel free to comment on anything.

Two weeks!

Is it really two weeks since my last post? Where has the time gone?! Well, I guess I know where it's gone really - we've been so busy doing jobs both inside and outside the house, and working, that the time has just diasppeared.

While we had all the cold weather a couple of weeks ago DDs fiance started building a path for us at the front of the house, something we've talked about for quite a while. Although it wasn't finished at the end of the week that he'd taken off work, a week later, and two extra stepping stones later, and we now have a finished path! He's done such a good job with it.

And while he finished the path, we managed to add a proper edge to the front border and add a layer of bark to finish it off. Another job finished.

The back of the house is a different matter. There's still a bit more to, but it's getting there eventually. We need to do a bit more weeding, and then I need to go round with the pressure washer to get it all nice and clean.

DH has finally seen the venue where DD is going to get married next year. There was a Wedding Fayre on last weekend, so not only did DH get to see the main building, but we were also able to see a lot of the bedrooms. DD's Auntie came over the same day so she got to look round to, which was good. And then a lovely lunch out for us all.

And today we arrived home after spending two nights in Scotland, in the Borders. We stayed just outside Hawick in a fabulous little cottage a few miles down a single track road with no mobile phone signal for miles (thankfully once inside the cottage we had WiFi!). We travelled up on Friday after DH finished work at 4pm,  so it was dark when we arrived. After turning off the single track road we had to drive along a forest track for a short way before reaching the cottage. And when we arrived there were lights up in the barn!

It looked so pretty! And the cottage was lovely. Nice and cosy and warm.

We had the use of the Shepherds Hut next to it too, but decided not to.

We had a lovely day yesterday, despite the weather. After having a few days of nice sunny weather at home, Saturday turned out quite overcast and breezy. We drove a few miles down from the cottage to a forest where there were way-marked routes. Craik Forest. Very remote, and very nice.

We only did 2 miles, but it’s the longest walk DH has done since his hip replacement, so getting round on crutches took a while, especially with some steep sections!

But we did it. With some lovely views.

We then had a bit of a drive out and found a nice cafe for a hot drink, and arrived back at the cottage in daylight this time!

And today we came home. Via more single track road with more fabulous views.....

Back home in time to do some more weeding, and a bit of pressure washing to clean up the patio.

Monday again tomorrow. Work, followed by a trip to the Cattery to collect Titch. It’s strange without him tonight....
