Every day .....

Over the last week there has not been one day when I haven’t been doing something in addition to working.

On Monday night I went to the woodturning club for the last of the hands on nights until the autumn. And thoroughly enjoyed it. Then after work on Tuesday I met up with a friend who’s going through a difficult time just now so I spent a while with her before heading home to get ready for line dancing. Or at least I’d planned on going line dancing. What actually happened was I got a text from DD asking if I fancied going round as she wanted company! So, no line dancing, but a very unscheduled visit to DD!

On Wednesday I managed to finish work a bit earlier and had arranged to go to get some woodturning practice. One of the members of the club on Monday had said it was ok if I went round, so I spent about 3 hours practicing and watching and taking notes. All I need to do now is get our garage sorted so I can set myself up with a lathe!

And then Thursday again with a long day at work and not much time to do anything at night apart from start packing ready for Friday. I’d booked for us to have a night away at Far Sawrey in the Lake District. It was such a lovely place where we went and we had a lovely view from our room.

The pub was really busy in the main eating area, but down a few stairs you ended up in what looked to be the old stable area, so we went down there where it was quiet after we’d eaten.

Saturday morning we had a lovely breakfast and then set off on a shortish walk directly from the pub. Although it was a bit overcast when we set off, by the time we were heading back it was glorious weather!

There were signs of spring arriving everywhere, with green shoots coming through ......

.....and fabulous views of the fells ......

We had lunch back at the pub before setting off home. It was lovely to be out in such good weather and to arrive home in brilliant sunshine.

Today’s weather, however, was quite a contrast. I’d put my name for a task day with the Woodland Trust - site familiarisation for a couple of hours. As a new volunteer for a local estate it seemed a good idea to go and get an idea how big the estate is and what there is there. The way there involves going over moorland which is normally a nice drive if the weathers ok. Today it was rain and hailstones for a lot of it! Not very nice at all. Thankfully by the time I parked up it had stopped and our group managed to stay fairly dry for most of the walk round. It was quite an eye opener as I had no idea how large the Woodland Trust site was. And a very informative afternoon as different people gave their knowledge of the area. Definitely worth going.

So I’ve had quite a packed week! I’m hoping this week will be a little better, although I have two hospital appointments to get through - one with the orthopaedic department to check my back and arm, and one with the oral department to check my jaw. Fingers crossed everything looks ok.

And I’m pleased to say that I’ve finally managed to plant up my tubs at the front of the house......
